for the Week of 4/28 - 5/2
Math 8 (Algebra):
We will begin to learn about factoring polynomials (High School Algebra skills) this week using our 8th grade Algebra books "Algebra, Structure and Method - Book 1". During this week we will continue to learn about Topic 5 "Factoring Polynomials" with Lesson 5-4 "Multiplying Binomials Mentally" with daily homework anMultiplyingd in-class assignments to help prepare for the weekly quiz. The math quiz on Topic 5-4"Multiplying Binomials Mentally" will be scheduled on Friday, 5/2.
Religion 8:
We will continue with using our 8th Grade Religion books "Finding God", and will begin Unit 5 "We Are Sent. During this week we will complete Session 21 "Truth Revealed by God". We will also focus on "Mary" and May Crowning as well. Along with using our Religion books, we will learn and complete lessons with Studio 3:16, and we will continue with studying Virtues in Practice with focusing on "Hope". ** The Virtue for the month of May is "Diligence....doing your best and working hard until you're finished". The Saint we will learn about for the month of May is Saint Catherine of Siena. **
Math 7 (Pre-Algebra):
We will continue to learn about linear functions this week using our Pre-Algebra books. During this week we will learn about Topic 8 "Linear Functions" with Lesson 8-5 "The Slope Intercept Form" with daily homework and in-class assignments to help prepare for the weekly quiz. The math quiz on Topic 8-5 "The Slope Intercept Form" will be scheduled on Friday, 5/2.
Math 6:
We will continue to learn about understanding and use percent this week using our 6th Grade Envision Math Series - Volume 2 books. During this week we will learn Topic 6 "Understand and Use Percent" with Lesson 6-3 "Represent Percents Greater than 100 or Less than 1" with daily homework and in-class assignments to help prepare for the weekly quiz. The math quiz on Topic 6-3 "Represent Percents Greater than 100 or Less than 1" will be scheduled on Friday, 5/2. Along with learning our regular math topics each week, the students will enhance their math skills with weekly "Timed" Division fact quizzes for the remainder of the school year. ** This week's "Timed" Division Facts Quiz will be on Wednesday, 4/30 on Lesson # 10 - Division Facts to 81. **
Math 5:
We will continue to learn about adding and subtracting fractions using our 5th Grade Envision Math Series - Volume 1 books. During this week we will learn Topic 7 "Use Equivalent Fractions to Add and Subtract Fractions" with Lesson 7-5 "Add and Subtract Fractions" with daily homework and in-class assignments to help prepare for the weekly quiz. The math quiz on Topic 7-5 "Add and Subtract Fractions" will be scheduled on Friday, 5/2. Along with learning our regular math topics each week, the students will enhance their math skills with weekly Multiplication fact quizzes. All multiplication facts for the remainder of the school year will be "timed". ** This week's "Timed" Multiplication Facts Quiz will be on Wednesday, 4/30 on Lesson 12 - "Cumulative Review" **
